this is my first vacation post. ever.
I'm curled up on the carpet, a heater blasting on my right, snow 2 feet away just outside the glass window, a full stomach, and a very tired body. the picture of contentment.
as I skiied down beautiful snowy mountains today, I was talking to God and as "we" were talking, I was overcome with an intense feeling of safey and contentment.
God has me in his hands. he loves me. he holds me close, he carries me, he guides me. he created beautiful mountains, snow, the sunshine, me.
I am his...life may be uncertain, but I am his. I am content with this.
bring on this 25th year of life.

Cookie Dough = art.
What is art?
This is art.
Super fun abstract art from Christoph Niemann...using cookie dough, of course.

...there's more. These were just some of my favorites.

A few truths...
(And I wish I could take credit for all of these, but I can't. Please enjoy anyways.)
- I totally take back all those times I didn’t want to nap when I was younger.
- Have you ever been walking down the street and realized that you’re going in the complete opposite direction of where you are supposed to be going? But instead of just turning a 180 and walking back in the direction from which you came, you have to first do something like check your watch or phone or make a grand arm gesture and mutter to yourself to ensure that no one in the surrounding area thinks you’re crazy by randomly switching directions on the sidewalk.
- Is it just me, or are 80% of the people in the “people you may know” feature on Facebook people that I do know, but I deliberately choose not to be friends with?
- Do you remember when you were a kid, playing Nintendo and it wouldn’t work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message boards or FAQ’s. We just figured it out. Today’s kids are soft.
- I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.
- Was learning cursive really necessary?
- Lol has gone from meaning, “laugh out loud” to “I have nothing else to say”.
- I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.
- Answering the same letter three times or more in a row on a Scantron test is absolutely petrifying.
- How many times is it appropriate to say “What?” before you just nod and smile because you still didn’t hear what they said?
- MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.
- Whenever I’m Facebook stalking someone and I find out that their profile is public I feel like a kid on Christmas morning who just got the Red Ryder BB gun that I always wanted. 546 pictures? Don’t mind if I do!
- There’s no worse feeling than that millisecond you’re sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.
- I keep some people’s phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

Amos Lee and procrastination.
This song makes me smile and feel good about myself and the world.
I hope it makes you feel the same.
It's also a great way to procrastinate the to-do list that is staring me in the face. Confession: I have not put away my Christmas decorations and I have not put away my Christmas presents. Yes, there is a box full of Christmas presents (unwrapped, of course) sitting in my room waiting to find their place in my apartment.
The dirty bathroom is also calling my name. And the kitchen. And I'm sure the floor would love to be vacuumed. Maybe I'll listen to the song once more...

sold?
when I wrote yesterday's post, I had no idea that I would get pulled off the market so quickly. I promise.
funny story:
this morning, I got my typical 6:20am phone call asking me to substitute teach at Hollister. I love Hollister, I love teaching, and I love the income so I said "yes," of course.
fast forward to 8am.
I walk into the office, say "good morning" to Pam (one of the nicest school secretaries that I've ever met), and turn to find the principal standing there saying hello to me, as well. I sign in and as I am writing my name, the principal asks if I have my credential. he then walks with me to my classroom, the entire time telling me about a position for a certificated tutor that is open...basically, selling me on a position that will allow him "to get to know me better." awesome. 3 hours later, I have an interview with the assistant superintendent scheduled and I'm laughing because I was pretty much handed a job and a very likely "foot in the door" not even 24 hours after having starting the process of "selling myself" and getting aggressive.
clearly, when God is in control, not even my attempts at aggressiveness are needed.
the timing couldn't be better and the school is my top choice.
God is good.

for sale
today, I took my first aggressive step.
okay-maybe it's not my FIRST, but I am more passive than aggressive so it sure felt like my first.
today, I started to sell myself. in a good way.
"hi, I'm a darn good teacher and I'm for sale."
will anyone make the purchase? I sure hope so. I'm not that expensive.
